On March 21, the Delta City shopping mall will start the action of collecting old clothes that will be given new use value. The aim of the project is to promote sustainable and conscientious ways of using fashion. The action lasts until April 21.
Raising awareness of conscientious attitude towards fashion is one of the pillars of Delta City’s corporate social responsibility strategy. Therefore, following the global trends in the field of sustainable fashion, Delta City has launched the project “Just to support”, which emphasizes the importance of conscientious treatment of clothing after its end of life.
In the period from March 21 to April 21, visitors of Delta City will have the opportunity to store clothes that no longer serve them in the central hall of the shopping mall, in the designated place, in order to reuse it and create new value.
“We have more ideas on how to treat the collected clothes in the end – whether through cooperation with organizations for the most endangered, decorators and designers who would make new pieces from old clothes, blankets for animals in shelters throughout Montenegro or by reporting it to one of the European Union countries, where there are textile recycling centers. Which option we decide on, and whether we will be able to realize everything, depends on how many people will participate. That is why we invite all our visitors to contribute to this important action, so that its effect would be greater “, the marketing directorofDelta City Dragan Perišić.
The mission of the project is to acquaint the Montenegrin audience with the concepts of re-use and re-purpose, which fall under the auspices of slow fashion, and which mean that already used materials or remnants of materials produce unusual and unique clothing, while protecting the environment .
“Of course, aesthetics is important to us, we are a society in which it plays an important role, and with this project we do not want to minimize it in any way. What we want is to add another component to that, and that is the relationship towards the wardrobe we own. Delta City is not a manufacturer in itself, but it is a host to the fashion industry, so the sustainability challenges that this industry is facing are partly related to us. We take this responsibility seriously, “Perišić points out.
Delta City shopping mall has been present on the Montenegrin market for 13 years, during which it continuously implements a number of socially responsible activities important to the community in which it operates. In addition to the Sustainable Fashion project, important segments of the social responsibility strategy are projects that include support for creative entrepreneurship and the adoption of stray animals, which have been successfully implemented for several years.
