The Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro announces the opening of the exhibition by Katarina Tomašević Crawford titled “With the Wind in Her Hair”, which will take place on Tuesday, March 31st, at 7 PM, at Perjanički Dom. The exhibition is curated by Marina Čelebić.

The exhibition presents a series of wire sculptures — portraits and stylized human figures — through which the artist explores psychological and emotional states as layers of the inner structure of identity. The works are created using a specific “wire sculpting” technique, through a process of intertwining and shaping material into complex, airy forms that simultaneously preserve mass while actively using negative space.

By combining metal wire with epoxy clay, resin, and paint, Katarina Tomašević Crawford creates sculptures of pronounced texture and strong presence. Her works function as visual records of inner processes, intertwining personal experiences with symbolic layers of meaning. Special focus is placed on motifs of introspection and dreamer figures, while inspiration drawn from the Japanese technique of kintsugi further emphasizes the beauty of imperfection and the traces of time.

Katarina Tomašević Crawford was born in Titograd and has lived and worked in London for more than 20 years. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje and continued her studies in France as a visiting student at the Academy in Lille. Throughout her career, she has worked in theatre and film scenography and costume design, traditional furniture making, glass modeling, as well as educational and therapeutic work in the field of fine arts. Her artistic practice is characterized by continuous exploration of various materials and techniques, through which she develops an authentic and recognizable sculptural expression.
