On Saturday, June 20th from 11:00 to 12:00, at the Children’s Department in NL “Radosav Ljumović”, a cheerful and colorful gathering awaits us with the picture book “Elmer” by author David McKee.
Elmer is not an ordinary elephant. While all the other elephants are gray, he is covered in colorful patchwork squares of all colors. Even though he is loved by his friends, Elmer sometimes wishes to be like everyone else. Through his story, we discover how important it is to accept ourselves, appreciate our uniqueness, and understand that it is precisely our differences that make the world more interesting and beautiful.
This timeless picture book encourages conversation about self-confidence, belonging, friendship, and appreciating diversity.
During the workshop, children will:
- participate in interactive reading with conversation and imagination;
- explore Elmer’s traits and feelings;
- talk about what makes each of us special;
- participate in creative activities inspired by Elmer’s colorful world;
- find out interesting facts about elephants;
- develop self-confidence, empathy, and respect for others through play.
Is it always easy to be different? What makes us special?
We look for the answers through story, conversation, play, and joint creation.
The workshop is intended for children aged six to nine, and it is led by teacher Maja Petričević.
Due to the limited number of places ( 10 to 15 ) participants, applications must be sent by Friday, June 19th to the email:
