Who was Milica, whose beauty lived on in song?

Her name is known to generations. Her story – much less so.

The documentary film “Milica, u majke” by Montenegrin director Sead Šabotić, based on an idea and project by journalist Olivera Vukadinović, sets off in search of the real identity of the mysterious Milica – a woman whose incredible beauty inspired one of the most famous Podgorica sevdalinkas.

The search leads from Podgorica’s Stara Varoš (Old Town) all the way to Sarajevo, through memories, traces, and two conflicting historical stories about her life.

Where does the legend end, and the truth about Milica begin?

We are watching the film as part of the Third Documentary Film Revue, organized by the Network of Cinema Exhibitors of Montenegro in cooperation with the Underhill Festival.
