The River Zeta is 86 km long. At its mouth, it has more water than Morača, but Morača is longer and has a linear and surface flow. The waters of Zeta are well-hydroelectrically utilized in three power plants. Zeta is a true water and fishing gem, with an indigenous trout and other fish species. When it becomes a nature park, a moratorium on fishing is planned to be introduced.
The valley of the River Zeta and the river itself represent an important ecosystem for Montenegro.
Of the 352 registered bird species in Montenegro, 20% of the total number represent birds that are protected habitats, and all of these species are present in this area.
