One of the most acclaimed flamenco guitarists, Gerardo Núñez, will perform with his sextet on Tuesday, August 4, at 9 PM, at the Summer Stage (Ljetnja scena) in Stara Varoš.

Gerardo Núñez is one of the most celebrated flamenco guitarists and composers of his generation. As a visionary of contemporary flamenco, he enriched the classical expression with elements of jazz and fusion, pushing the boundaries of the genre following the Paco de Lucía era.

Born in Andalusia, he began his professional career at the age of 14, performing alongside legendary flamenco artists. He later joined Mario Maya’s dance company in Madrid, where he met his wife, the dancer Carmen Cortés.

His distinctive style blends flamenco with jazz, funk, and Latin rhythms, featuring exceptional harmonic and rhythmic innovation. He released his debut album, El gallo azul, in 1988, followed by notable releases such as Flamencos en Nueva York, Jucal, and Travesía. He won the prestigious Giraldillo award for Best Flamenco Guitarist at the Seville Biennale in 2002.
