While the tracks of an old Podgorica sevdalinka lead from Stara Varoš to Sarajevo, journalist Olivera Vukadinović tries to uncover the identity of the mysterious Milica—a woman whose beauty inspired the song made famous by Ksenija Cicvarić, and whose life and identity remain hidden between two conflicting stories.
Who was Milica from the old Podgorica sevdalinka?
The short documentary film “Milica, Her Mother’s Only,” directed by Sead Šabotić, stems from the song popularized by Ksenija Cicvarić and takes us from Stara Varoš to Sarajevo, tracing the steps of the woman whose beauty inspired one of the most famous Podgorica sevdalinkas.
Project author Olivera Vukadinović seeks to discover who the mysterious Milica was, while her life and identity continue to be veiled between two opposing narratives.
