Montenegro Symphony Orchestra – Gustav Mahler’s “Symphony No. 9”
On Friday, May 15, at 20:00, on the Main Stage of the Music Centre of Montenegro, under the direction of Principal Conductor Marko Korović, the Montenegro Symphony Orchestra will premiere Mahler’s monumental “Symphony No. 9”.
Mahler’s Ninth was the last work he completed and is part of the legendary “Ninth Symphony curse” associated with composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner, and Dvořák. In his manuscript, Mahler wrote “Farewell! Farewell!”, interpreted in many ways — a goodbye to his late daughter, to his own life, or a reflection on the end of the Romantic era.
This performance is one of the most emotional and significant works in symphonic literature and is part of the Music Centre of Montenegro’s program celebrating 20 years of Montenegro’s renewed independence. 🇲🇪
