Orthodox Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ

Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, with its monumental scale, architecture, and artistic value, is a unique, new, sacred building. The construction of the cathedral began in 1993 and took 20 years to complete. The cathedral is dominated by two pyramidal towers, each 26.7 meters high, which have 17 bells housed in their upper floors. The heaviest bell weighs 11 tons and is the largest on the Balkan Peninsula. At the foot of the towers are paraklis (small churches), dedicated to Saint Simeon Mirotočiv (where he was baptized) and Saint John Vladimir.
