Renowned Macedonian National Ensemble of folk dances and songs “Tanec” will mark 75 years of successful existence with a concert organized by the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City and CIC “Budo Tomović” as part of the event “Podgorica Cultural Summer”.
At the concert in Podgorica, which is part of the latest Balkan tour of the “Tanec” ensemble, a sumptuous musical and stage program will be performed.
The concert will consist of a variety of vocal and instrumental music program of the orchestra and choir “Tanec”, with soloist Suzana Spasovska, who will perform the Macedonian anthology songs “Da sum bistra voda”, “Sedna baba da večena”, “Kirjana vino prodava”, “More sokol pie”, “Makedonka” and others .
The “Tanec” ensemble will perform on Friday, September 20, on the big stage of the KIC, starting at 8 p.m.
Founded in March 1949 in Skopje, the “Tanec” ensemble has been one of the most important pillars of Macedonian tradition and culture for 75 years. It was formed in order to collect and nurture Macedonian traditional songs and dances, folk instruments and costumes, as well as to present the most valuable forms from the rich treasury of the Macedonian people through appropriate artistic expression. Thanks to all the generations that built and implemented the founder’s clearly defined program activities, the ensemble developed over the years and grew into a respectable institution. During these 75 years, the ensemble has performed on the most prestigious stages around the world and has over 5,000 unforgettable concerts.
The repertoire of “Tanec” includes over 90 choreographies and several hundred vocal and instrumental pieces, through which the ensemble presents different musical and choreographic traditions from all the regions where rich Macedonian folklore originated. The fund “Tanec” contains a unique collection of 3,000 authentic costumes of exceptional value and beauty, so every performance of the ensemble is a special audio-visual experience.
