#PodgoricaCulturalSummer2026

The premiere of the docudrama film “Doclea – City of Silence” by author Miodrag Bole Bošković will take place on Thursday, July 9th, at 9:30 PM, at Duklja.

Bošković’s film is the first docudrama achievement in Montenegro completely dedicated to the ancient city and state of Duklja – one of the most significant historical and cultural sites in Montenegro.

Through the character of the mystical Doclea, a guide through the past, the film delivers the story of the origin and development of ancient Duklja in an authentic and artistically striking way, blending historically grounded facts with lyrical-poetic cinematic expression. Impressive footage of the archaeological site reveals lesser-known segments of its rich history – from the era before the common era, through the Roman period, to the first Montenegrin dynasties. A special atmosphere is given to the film by the original music composed by the author himself.

The screenplay, direction, production, editing, and music are credited to Miodrag Bole Bošković. The text was authored by Vojislav D. Nikčević, Miraš Martinović, and Miodrag Bole Bošković, the narration is spoken by Andrijana Pekić, the director of photography is Dejan Vlahović, the editing associate is Branko Gazdić, while Ljilja and Marina Banović were in charge of costume and styling. Marija Bošković appears in the role of Doclea, and the scenes with Roman legionnaires were realized using archival stock footage.

“Doclea – City of Silence” reminds us of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and identity roots, affirming Duklja as one of the most important places in the history of Montenegro.
