The drama “Mrs. Josip” by writer Ana Janković will be presented at KIC “Budo Tomović” on May 5 in the Multimedia Hall, at 8:00 PM. The book will be discussed by the author together with literary theorist Lidija Vojinović.
Janković’s drama, written by an author known for her poetry collections, offers an intimate and unsettling study of family breakdown in a time when relationships are losing depth and meaning. Through the main character, the author, as noted in the foreword by Lidija Vojinović, “demonstrates a genuine understanding of the deep layers of the human being,” following the tradition of modern dramatic classics.
Ana Janković was born in 1989 in Podgorica, where she completed primary school, high school, and the Faculty of Political Sciences (International Relations). She also graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić, Department of Montenegrin Language and South Slavic Literature. During her studies at both faculties, she received scholarships for talented students. At the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić, she was named student of the generation (December 2018). She published her first poetry collection, “Light in the Fog,” in 2005. Her second collection, “Quiet Silkiness,” supported by the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, was published in 2021 and promoted in numerous Montenegrin cities. Her poetry has appeared in the anthology of the Novi Sarajevo Literary Meetings (2011), on the literary portal strane.ba, and in the PAF poetry collection as part of a competition for the best unpublished poems in Montenegro in 2019. In December 2019, she participated in the 22nd Nikšić Literary Meetings as part of the segment “Nikšić Poets and Friends.” Among her awards is the first prize in the competition for poets under 35 at the literary festival “Days of Radovan Zogović,” held in Kolašin in August 2020. The drama “Mrs. Josip” was written in 2013, was shortlisted for the Belgrade Drama Theatre competition, and represents her first dramatic work. Its publication was also supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media competition for literary creation in 2025.
