🎭 “MADAME BUTTERFLY” OPEN-AIR OPERA SCREENING 🎼

🎶The screening of the opera “Madama Butterfly”, a timeless masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini and one of the most frequently performed titles in the global opera repertoire, will take place on Wednesday, June 24, at 9 PM, in King’s Park in Podgorica.

🟠The opera’s plot brings a touching story about a young geisha Cio-Cio-San, known as Butterfly, who renounces her family and tradition due to her love for an American officer, Pinkerton. Her unconditional love and unwavering faith in his return lead to a tragic outcome. From this timeless tale of love, hope, and betrayal, Puccini created a masterpiece of exceptional emotional power and lavish musical beauty.

🟣Premiered in 1904 at Milan’s La Scala, “Madama Butterfly” uniquely blends the Western opera tradition with Eastern musical color, highlighting the stark contrast between Pinkerton’s callousness and the fragility, loyalty, and deep feelings of young Cio-Cio-San.

🔴Directed by the famous American director Robert Wilson, this masterpiece receives a special stage performance. Instead of traditional Japanese motifs, Wilson uses a minimalist space, precisely stylized movement, and an evocative play of light, creating a visually striking performance where music and emotions come to full expression.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional production of the Paris National Opera and experience one of Giacomo Puccini’s most significant works on the big screen.
