🔹️ Montenegro is hosting the Balkan Botanical Congress for the very first time! 🌿 The 9th Balkan Botanical Congress will take place from October 8th to 12th, organized by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the University of Montenegro, and the Natural History Museum.

🧑‍🔬🌱 The host of this traditional gathering, which started nearly 30 years ago in Thessaloniki, is CANU. The congress gathers elite botanists and plant scientists, so after Istanbul, Sarajevo, Sofia, Belgrade, Rijeka, and Novi Sad, this botanical time machine has arrived in Podgorica!

🌍🌿 The scientific program of the Congress includes 6 plenary and 36 oral lectures, as well as 74 poster presentations, totaling 116 scientific papers. 🔬📚

🌸 The first evening of the Congress is dedicated to Academician Vukić Pulević, and guests will also have the opportunity to view an exhibition dedicated to Prof. Dr. Koviljka Tomić-Stanković, the first woman and the first female botanist from Montenegro to become a doctor of science while working in Montenegro, marking the centenary of her birth. 👩‍🔬🌺

🌊 The program also features a popular science lecture by Dr. Vesna Mačić from the Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor, titled “Antarctica – not only ice and snow.” ❄️🐧

🌳 In addition to the scientific part of the program with presentations, participants will have the chance to experience Montenegro’s natural heritage through two field excursions (Biogradska Gora National Park and Skadar Lake National Park), as well as a tourist tour of the capital city, Podgorica. 🏞️🌿🦋
