INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE FESTIVAL, PODGORICA 2026: THE BOOK AT THE CENTER OF THE CAPITAL’S CULTURAL LIFE

The second edition of the International Literature Festival, Podgorica 2026, will take place from September 29th to October 4th, bringing over 40 diverse programs dedicated to literature, books, and contemporary cultural creativity over six festival days.

In addition to its recognizable book fair segment, this year’s Festival introduces numerous other activities – book promotions and author talks, concerts, film screenings, theater performances, outdoor exhibitions, and workshops, uniting different art forms and creating a space where literature meets other modes of artistic expression.

The Festival’s motto, “In the capital city, the book is capital,” highlights Podgorica as a meeting place for literature, authors, and readers, while pointing to the significance of books in the city’s cultural life. Literature will take center stage as a forum for conversation, the exchange of ideas, diverse perspectives, and connecting people through words. The “capital book” is not just a single book, but a symbol of literature that raises questions, encourages thought, and enriches the city’s life, turning Podgorica into a place where the book is celebrated, read, and lived.

Over the six festival days, more than 40 programs will be carried out – ranging from promotions of new editions and encounters with famous writers, to outdoor musical and theatrical events.

The logo of the International Literature Festival was created by graphic artist Prof. Mirko Toljić, while the complete design of the Festival was done by graphic designer Aleksandar Ostojić.

ℹ️ The book fair segment of the Festival will be open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, and admission is free for all visitors.
