A magical island, a world surrounded by illusions, and Ruggiero trying to find his freedom once again…

The opera La liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola d’Alcina, composed by Francesca Caccini in 1625, is one of the significant works of the Baroque period that combines music, theatre, and the idea of transformation. Through the story of Ruggiero, imprisoned on the island of the sorceress Alcina, and his liberation from the enchanted world, this work brings questions of freedom, reality, and the boundaries between truth and illusion to the stage.

The performance, prepared within the KMK Opera Project Montenegro 2026 project, which is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, will be performed before an audience in Podgorica and Kotor after a collaborative process of rehearsals and stage preparation.
