🔹 The exhibition “The Origin of the Painting – Drawings by Sava Šumanović from the Collection of the National Museum of Serbia” will open on Tuesday, July 7th, at 8:00 PM at the Modern Gallery.

🔹 The author of the exhibition is a curator of the National Museum of Serbia, art historian Dragana Ljubenović, who points out:

“Although he acted as a self-reliant individual without direct followers, Šumanović synthesized the leading artistic endeavors through his vision and sensitivity. He offered solutions that belong to the pinnacles of our art, through a thorough and diligent approach to the act of painting, where drawing was a constant origin and support in building the structure, and often the tonal values of the painting.
His significance is further confirmed by the complete equalization of life with painting, where nearly every moment of existence was used for a consistent and disciplined exploration of artistic problems and the construction of an authentic artistic expression.”

🔹 The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the National Museum of Serbia, the Native Museum of Pljevlja, and the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City of Podgorica.

🔹 The exhibition will be open until August 30th, 2026.
