The screening of the ballet “Cinderella” will take place on Tuesday, July 21, at 9 PM, at the plateau in front of the Petrović Palace in Podgorica.

This is one of the most beloved pieces of the classical ballet repertoire, inspired by Charles Perrault’s famous fairy tale and the music of Sergei Prokofiev. Choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev, this performance brings an original and contemporary reading of the well-known story, setting the plot in the golden age of Hollywood, filled with movie studios, spotlights, and silver screen stars.

In Nureyev’s interpretation, Cinderella is not just a girl dreaming of love, but a young woman striving to fulfill her dreams. Her fairy godmother becomes a movie producer, while the prince is a charming, successful film actor. Through a story of hope, talent, and success, Cinderella finds her way from anonymity to stardom.

The performance also carries a strong autobiographical dimension, reminiscent of the life path of Rudolf Nureyev – a young Tatar who became one of the biggest stars of world ballet. As a unique ballet metaphor, this creation also represents a tribute to the artist who marked the history of the Paris Opera as its director and one of the most significant choreographers of the 20th century.

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a blend of top-tier dance, magnificent music, and cinematic aesthetics, in a production that uniquely connects the world of ballet and the seventh art.

The program is organized by the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City of Podgorica in cooperation with the French Institute and the Embassy of France in Montenegro.
