A unique ballet journey through the screenings of three masterpieces of ballet art by choreographers George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, and Crystal Pite will take place on Tuesday, July 28, at 9 PM, at the Plateau in front of the Petrović Palace.

➡️WHO CARES?
Created in 1970 for the New York City Ballet, the ballet “Who Cares?” brings a series of dance scenes inspired by George Gershwin’s music, including the legendary compositions “Who Cares?” and “I Got Rhythm.”
Against the backdrop of the recognizable silhouette of New York skyscrapers, the performance gathers an ensemble of dancers in dynamic choreographic formations, followed by four soloists taking center stage. In a playful and energetic finale, they all meet on stage again through a ballet expression with which George Balanchine pays tribute to the musical genius and beauty of Gershwin’s melodies.

➡️BOLERO
The legendary “Bolero,” created to Maurice Ravel’s musical score of the same name, is one of the most recognizable achievements of ballet art. Surrounded by an ensemble of dancers, the main female performer, alone on a table, surrenders to the seductive rhythm of the music in a hypnotic and sensual dance that pulses with life energy.
This iconic choreography by Maurice Béjart represents a fascinating blend of strength, sensuality, and irresistible rhythm, which gradually builds up to a powerful emotional climax.

➡️THE SEASONS’ CANON
Vivaldi’s famous composition “The Four Seasons,” in a contemporary rearrangement by Max Richter, accompanies the monumental choreography “The Seasons’ Canon” by Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite. Premiered in 2016 at the Paris Opera Ballet, this piece won over audiences worldwide with its powerful energy and impressive choreographic expression. Through powerful group scenes and exceptional expressiveness of movement, “The Seasons’ Canon” explores the relationship between man and nature, transience, and the constant renewal of life.

The program is organized by the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City of Podgorica in cooperation with the French Institute and the Embassy of France in Montenegro.
