Opening the 17th UnderhillFest with the film “Planina” (The Mountain), directed by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić at 9:00 PM, following the festival’s Opening Ceremony which begins at 8:30 PM.

On the remote heights of Sinjajevina, Gara and her thirteen-year-old daughter Nada return every summer to the pastures of their ancestors, where they herd cattle, gather medicinal herbs, and live in symbiosis with the mountain they call “Mother.” However, their fragile world becomes threatened when the Montenegrin government launches plans to create a military training ground for NATO needs in the heart of this protected area. Gara, a mother of six children, suddenly emerges as the leader of the movement to defend Sinjajevina, and with her daughter Nada, she fights two important life battles – an ecological one, for the preservation of nature, and a personal, family one – confronting patriarchy and violence against women.

After winning the Grand Jury Prize for Best International Documentary Film at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, this powerful documentary portrait of Sinjajevina arrives before the Podgorica audience.
