“If Pigeons Turned to Gold” is a documentary film that follows a pivotal year in the lives of four family members, whose shared past has evolved into a present marked by deep conflicts.
While Pepa, the film’s director and narrator, has “order” in her life, her brother and two cousins, David and Marko, have ended up on the streets, each facing addiction.
The film represents a fragile balance between love and contempt, seeking to answer whether family saves our lives or, on the contrary, destroys them.
Winner of the Berlinale Documentary Award 2026, this powerful documentary by Pepa Lubojacki delivers an intimate and painful look at the boundary between care and self-destruction.
