It originates in northern Montenegro, below the Rzač mountain. It is 113 kilometers long and flows from north to south. It empties into Lake Scutari. In its northern part, Morača is a fast mountain river, and it cuts through the canyon north of Podgorica. After merging with its largest tributary, Zeta, north of Podgorica, Morača enters the Zeta valley, until it flows into Lake Scutari. Morača is a relatively small river, about 100 meters wide and mostly shallow, so its course has not been changed. Its canyon is part of the main road that leads to Podgorica and the Montenegrin coast. Morača is considered one of the symbols of Podgorica, and it is the largest river that flows through this city.
