Soloist concert by pianist Matija Molčanov

Pianist Matija Molčanov’s solo concert will be held as part of the “Young Talents” series on Wednesday, June 5, in the large hall of KIC “Budo Tomović”, at 7 p.m. The concert program will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach (Prelude and Fugue in A flat major, Volume I DTK), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Sonata in C minor KV 457), Johannes Brahms (Intermezzi no. 1 and 2 op. 118), Volodymyr Mašik ( Toccata 2017), as well as a composition for four-hand piano by Maurice Moskovski (Gavotte op. 43 no. 2), which the young pianist will perform with the guest of the concert, Elena Vujović. Matija Molčanov (2004) was born in Kotor. He took his first musical steps at ŠOMO Budva, in the class of Biljana Bagarić, and continued his education in the class of his father, prof. Oleksija Molčanova in Tivat, until the end of secondary music school in 2024. As a high school student, he achieved a number of notable results and won awards at international and national competitions as a soloist and member of chamber ensembles. Among the most significant are the awards at the I, II and III international piano competition in Tivat, at online competitions in Sremska Mitrovica (Serbia), Uzhhorod and Kiev (Ukraine) and Istanbul (Turkey). He recently won first prize at the State Competition in the piano duo category with Elena Vujović. He attended various seminars with professors Bojan Martinović, Jurij Kot, Vladimir Babin and Nikola Vučković. He performed several times at the festival of contemporary piano music “Forte Piano” organized by KIC “Budo Tomović” and participated in the project “Vivum” organized by the Institute of Education of Montenegro, under the auspices of UNICEF. The young Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Mashika is specially for Matija composed two compositions, which he premiered in Podgorica: “Four character pieces for children” (2021) and “Variations in the form of etudes in the Ukrainian style” (2022) for piano and orchestra. He is artistically engaged in the theater play “The World of Possibilities” directed by Haris Pašović. KIC “BUDO TOMOVIĆ”
