The exhibition titled “A Day Dearer Than a Century – Fundina 1876”, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fundina (1876–2026), will be officially opened on Friday, August 14, at 20:00, at Kuslev’s House.

The authors of the exhibition are curators Aleksandar Mugoša and Branko Vuković.

In their review, the authors of the exhibition state, among other things:

“The exhibition is designed with the aim of enabling a more comprehensive understanding of the historical circumstances that determined the scope and intensity of combat operations, the Ottoman Empire’s relationship with the local population, the organization and dynamics of wartime events, as well as the role of prominent commanders and local actors.

In a broader context, the theme encompasses an analysis of key clashes, applied strategies, and outcomes that led to the liberation of Medun. Special attention is dedicated to a scientifically grounded reconstruction of the disposition of forces and the course of military operations, based on relevant historical research, primary documents, memoir materials, and specialized literature.

Cartographic representations and mapping of the wartime terrain represent one of the important interpretative and visual layers of the exhibition, while photographic and archival material, together with selected artifacts of material culture, contribute to their more comprehensive examination and historical contextualization.”
