
FIRST COINIS NO LIMITS TRIATHLON
A press conference on the organization of the Coinis No Limits Triathlon, the first triathlon in the long distance in Podgorica, was held. This event aims to promote the potential of Podgorica as a sports destination and connect the natural beauty of Skadar Lake National Park and the urban environment of the city. Also, it is the first race in the Balkans to be scored for the PTO world ranking.
“Podgorica is getting another sports event, which will be at the highest level and contribute to making our city more visible in the region and beyond. I am grateful to the people from the Triathlon Federation of Montenegro, who were dedicated to the realization of this plan, and I am glad that this event was supported by a number of companies that showed interest and social responsibility, led by partners from Coinis, ” said the Mayor of Podgorica, Dr. Ivan Vuković, and expressed special satisfaction with the race organized on Saturday, which is of a humanitarian nature, and the funds raised are paid to the Institute for Children’s Diseases, for arranging the space in front of the institution.
The President of the Triathlon Federation of Montenegro, Vedran Roćenović, pointed out that triathlon is an Olympic discipline that includes swimming, cycling and running, and the disciplines differ from each other in the distances that need to be overcome.
“Coinis No Limits Triathlon is a project of the Triathlon Club Podgorica in the discipline of half distance, which had its premiere on May 1, 2022, on the route Skadar Lake – Podgorica. The specialty of this race is reflected in swimming in Skadar Lake (1.9 km), cycling along the boulevard and the main road between Skadar Lake – Podgorica Capital (90 km long), and running along boulevards and streets in the main town (21 km) with the goal on Independence Square “, said Roćenović and pointed out that this is a race that is designed so that the track is one of the fastest in Europe, which makes it ideal for setting personal records.
The special charm of the race is given by the ambience itself, changing landscapes, from the beauties of the National Park to urban areas, historical and cultural sights.
Roćenović added that 170 participants from 14 European countries applied for the Coinis No Limits Triathlon, and the best triathletes from the region will contribute with their participation.
The day before the main race, on Saturday, April 30, starting at 5 pm, was held a “Pleasure Race”, 5km for adults and 500m for children, and all funds raised will be donated to the Association of Parents of Children with Cancer – Fenix, for project for the construction of a parking space and a children’s playground in front of the Department of Oncology and Hematology of the Institute for Children’s Diseases. All registered participants paid a symbolic entry fee of at least € 3, and companies / organizations will had the opportunity to donate funds for this purpose.
The president of the Association of Parents of Children with Cancer ‘Phoenix Montenegro’, Dijana Stojanović, pointed out that she was especially happy that the Pleasure Race is of a humanitarian nature, while the representative of the general sponsor of the race, Coinis, emphasized that it is a socially responsible company and that in addition to the sponsorship provided, a number of employees contributed by participating in the Triathlon.
Professional triathlete Jaroslav Kova also expressed his satisfaction with participating in the first edition of this race, emphasizing that he is sure that this event will position Podgorica as an attractive sports destination.
“We will do our best to be good hosts to all visitors and I hope that all participants will bring back fond memories from Podgorica,” Vuković concluded.
